Bike & Gear Preparation
A trail bike does not need to be perfect, but it needs to be dependable. Before riding, check tire condition and pressure, chain adjustment, brakes, controls, fluids, fuel, spokes, and anything that may have loosened during the previous ride.
Carry equipment appropriate for the ride. That may include basic tools, spare tube or repair equipment, hydration, phone, GPS, first-aid supplies, and enough fuel to safely complete the route.
Small problems in the parking lot are easy to fix. Ten miles into the woods, they are not.
What is one tool or piece of gear you always carry that has saved a ride?
